Slow Down

Let’s color the world in bright colors

It was an extremely lazy morning and I somehow pushed myself for my regular walk and exercise routine. A few minutes after that I plonked on back into my bed as I simply felt that was the best place for me to be. There was some kind of restlessness too.

Some days can be lazy and other times it’s just a need for a break or to recharge yourself.

Although I have been regularly meditating I still find it difficult to sit with the inner chaos.

Lethargy combined with a fidgety self is a dangerous combo especially for the start of a weekend.

Today, I thought let me do something different to get rid of the jittery state I was in.

And having never been really good with painting but simply for the joy of bright colors I thought why not sit and do some brush strokes.

With an artist husband guiding and wanting to make an easy piece we settled on sunset as the theme. I looked up references and slowly started with the first step of wetting the entire sheet.

In the process I got so focused and lost that no worries or stresses seemed to bother me. I easily disconnected from the routine and the troublesome thoughts disappeared.

The outcome really didn’t matter and neither did the glaring wrong moves. The colors were therapeutic, the movement was healing. That’s all. There was a soft critic interrupting me but I’m glad I didn’t pay too much heed. I had no expectations with pleasing anybody else. “Will people love it?” or “would I frame it?”. I let go of all that.

My goal was to slow down, take it easy, release and listen to the child in me who just wanted to have fun.

When the final piece was done I was taken aback at what I achieved. It may not be great according to the world’s standards but to me it meant a lot.

Probably when we view everything in life in the same dimension and release the ifs and buts there’ll be more to cheer about.

Let’s get mindful, let’s paint the world beautiful 🙂
